In Memorium: Joseph Y. Nasser, PhD, 1943-2011
The employees, management and Board of Directors of RCC Consultants, Inc. are saddened by the passing of our dear friend and esteemed colleague Joseph Y. “Joe” Nasser, PhD, on December 27, 2011. Joe was Vice President and General Manager of the RCC Public Safety Information Systems division. He was a devoted advocate of professional public safety communications, and had a long and distinguished career in the advancement of the state of this vital public service. More.

November 11: RCC Conducts Three-Day Interoperable Communications Exercise in California
RCC Consultants and the CalSIEC Central Planning Area conducted a three-day exercise series November 8-10 across the Central Valley region of California to further advance their collaboration on interoperable communications and incident management. October 28: RCC and CalSIEC Central Planning Area Conduct Regional HSEEP-Compliant Tabletop Exercise
RCC Consultants and the CalSIEC Central Planning Area conducted a tabletop exercise in Clovis, CA focusing on interoperable communications and incident management to validate emergency response plans and protocols for a simulated disaster. The October 13 exercise helped advance the level of proficiency and expediency in establishing command, control and communications for multi-jurisdictional, multi-disciplinary incidents. Learn more.

September 30: United Nations Office of Project Services Selects RCC to Develop Communications System for EMS in Kurdistan
RCC will provide project management, technical support and IV and V services to UNOPS. The project includes the installation of a new emergency number system, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) system and radio communications system. Learn more.

May 19: RCC Selected by Baldwin County, AL to Improve Countywide Communications and Interoperability
As many as 56 public safety agencies in Baldwin County utilize different radio systems that are not
interoperable with each other or the surrounding counties and agencies. RCC will assess the current public safety radio systems and make recommendations on the best, most resourceful two-way radio communications system to serve first responders, countywide. Learn more.
April 28: FCC Grants Approval for TETRA Standard in U.S.
The TETRA Association announced that the FCC has granted approval for products conforming to the TETRA voice and data communications standard to be available in the United States. An original signatory to the TETRA MoU in 1994, RCC has significant experience designing TETRA-based systems, and worked with the Association during this waiver process.

January 20: RCC Receives 2010 Customer Service Award from Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance
The Miami Valley Fire/EMS Alliance (Ohio) awarded RCC the 2010 Customer Service Award for our work helping the Alliance with their rebanding project.
RCC is assisting the Alliance in changing the frequencies they use in the 800 MHz band to comply with the FCC’s rebanding mandate. Also included in the project is the development and implementation of a standardized radio communications template for regional dispatch centers, fire apparatus and firefighters, which will enhance safety to the responder and public, and save lives and taxpayer money. RCC's Charles Bryson and Dominick Arcuri will provide an update on the D Block Auction at the All Hazards Consortium 3rd Annual Regional State Border Coordination Workshop in Gettysburg, PA. Their presentation will take place at 3:15 p.m. on January 24.
