March 21: RCC Moderating NYC In-Building Wireless Conference Panels
RCC's Doug Fishman and Robert Lopez will moderate panels at the sold-out NYC In-Building Wireless Conference March 28. Mr. Fishman will moderate "RF DAS + Small Cell Performance and Quality Validation" at 1 p.m., and Mr. Lopez will moderate "Public Safety and E911 Indoor Location Accuracy" at 2:15 p.m. The Conference is intended to inform attendees about integrating in-building wireless (DAS, Small Cell, WiFi and Location Based Services) into their building design. February 12: RCC Releases White Paper on SLIGP Guidance
To assist states in preparing to take advantage of the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP), RCC has released the white paper "The State and Local Implementation Grant Program in Support of the National Public Safety Broadband Network and A Suggested Process for Addressing that Program." February 6: NTIA Announces $121.5M Grant Program for FirstNet Planning
All 56 states and territories are eligible to receive funds to assist with FirstNet planning through the State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP). December 6: RCC's ComSitePro Software Praised at IEEE Broadcast Symposium
RCC's popular interference analysis tool, ComSitePro, was touted at this year's IEEE Broadcast Symposium. During the "Computer Simulation Tools for Broadcast Engineering" segment, engineer Greg Best said ComSite Pro was the only computer simulation he found that was up-to-date and commercially available. October 29: RCC's Mike Weins Contributes to IJIS White Paper on Governance in Public Safety Projects
The IJIS Institute published a white paper, Governance Agreements in Public Safety Information Sharing Projects, to help agencies that share information, systems or services. RCC's Mike Weins was a contributor to the paper. The paper was developed in response to questions provoked from the committee’s 2011 white paper, Data Sharing Between Computer Aided Dispatch Systems, to which Mr. Weins was also a contributor.
October 22: RCC Files Public Comment About FirstNet Concept with NTIA
FirstNet presented its conceptual network architecture for the nationwide public safety broadband network at its Board meeting on September 25. Read our concerns and recommendations to FirstNet in response to the NTIA’s call for public comment.
July 11: RCC Voluntarily Settles Civil Action
Today, RCC amicably settled a civil action field by the U.S. Equal Employment Commission alleging a viloaton of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The allegations date back to a single 2007 hiring decision, and were vigorously disputed by RCC. RCC, however, amicably settled the case to bring the action to an end, and to avoid further legal fees and costs. Learn more.
June 15: Files Response to NTIA on Request for Informaton on Development of the State and Local Implementation Grant Program for the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network
Today, RCC filed an in-depth response to the May 14, 2012, Request for Information (the “RFI”) of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce (“NTIA”) seeking public comment on various issues relating to the development of the state and local implementation grant program, which NTIA must establish, pursuant to the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 to assist state and local governments in planning for a single, nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network. The NG9-1-1 PSAP: What's the Difference? — RCC's Tony Busam, ENP, will discuss on a panel how the NG9-1-1 PSAP will differ from the PSAP of today in simple, easy-to-understand terms. An extended question and answer period will follow the panel discussion. Monday, June 11 at 4 p.m.
Standards-Based Information Sharing in Emergency Communications & Response — RCC's Michael Weins, ENP, will speak on a panel about the concept of "data in motion” – exposing the emergency communications technology environment to the public safety application environment. The panel will feature information sharing case studies and interoperability solutions. Wednesday, June 13 at 4 p.m.
PSAP Consolidation: A Road Map to Success — RCC's Verdette Hall, ENP, will be part of a panel discussing what elements to consider when discussing consolidation, project plan development and the importance of a communications plan to all stakeholders. Monday, June 11 at 2:45 p.m.
