Senior-Level DAS RF Engineer

Description

 

If you are a Senior-Level DAS RF Engineer looking for a new opportunity…take the next step with us! We are expanding our operations in the New York Metro region with offices located in Woodbridge, NJ.

 

The Senior DAS RF Engineer is responsible for assessing in-building communications needs, detailed cost estimates of systems, systems design to support public safety and cellular users, and perform interference analysis and fine tuning of uplink and downlink and system troubleshooting. In-building technologies include passive, signal booster, and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) including RF over fiber, hybrid technologies, and small cell carrier implementations.

 

Education and/or Experience

 

 

  • BSEE or equivalent engineering discipline
  • RCDD certification, PMP, PE certifications desired
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in wireless RF communications engineering and project management, including in-building signal booster systems (BDAs channelized and broadband), indoor/outdoor DAS, RF over fiber technologies, hybrid systems, microcells, picocells and HetNets; for cellular carriers or public safety users on LMR frequencies, or both.
  • Certification to Level 2 iBwave software and at least 3 years design experience    
  • Knowledge of both cellular carrier and public safety frequency bands and technologies
  • Familiarity with FCC rules for public safety (Part 90) and building codes and standards applicable to in-building public safety communications systems, including NFPA 1, 72, 1221, and International Fire Codes
  • Familiarity with cellular carrier requirements and standards for DAS in-building systems
  • Experience with RF test and network optimization platforms
  • Knowledgeable of DAS hardware from multiple vendors
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, and interference analysis
  • Experienced in post processing collected data on walktests, analyzing the post processed data, including comparison to predicted coverage in iBWave for optimization of UL/DL RSSI and technology specific KPIs (RSRP, CPICH, RSRQ, etc.)
  • Experienced in E911 and circuit switched fallback (CSFB) testing at the venue
     

Computer Skills

 

Strong knowledge and skilled use of all Microsoft Office applications, Visio, AutoCAD, Project, and Net Meeting.

 

Other Skills/ Abilities

 

  • Strong communication skills with all levels of personnel, clients, vendors etc.
  • Self-starter
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience with bidding and preparing responses to RFIs, RFPs, RFQs
  • Must be able to travel and work from remote locations up to approximately 75% of the time
  • Strong reading, writing, comprehension, presentation, and speaking skills are required

RF Engineer

Summary

 

We are expanding operations with an opening in Woodbridge, NJ. We are looking for qualified RF Engineers to join our team.

 

Qualifications

 

 

The ideal candidates must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent related experience. Master’s degree desirable.
  • Project Management certification is a plus
  • Professional Engineering Registration is desirable
  • Minimum 7 years exp in RF Engineering, Trunked/Conventional VHF, UHF and 700/800 MHz. Public Safety Radio Systems, Microwave Subsystems & Communications Tower Sites
  • Familiarity with design, specification development, procurement, implementation, oversight, testing and management of Private Mobile Radio Systems projects
  • Familiarity with LTE, DAS, and BDAs desirable
  • Familiarity with APCO P25, Motorola, TAIT and Harris trunked LMR systems
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project Management software such as Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
  • Strong background in RF propagation and interference modeling and trunked system capacity analysis
  • Ability to travel regionally and domestically approximately 50%
  • Ability to work as part of a team
